Utility Services


The City of Clayton's Utility Services manages the water, sewer, and garbage accounts for many City residents. It also manages the water and sewer for a majority of the residents in Rabun County. Our service area includes the City of Clayton, City of Mountain City, as well as other unincorporated sections of Rabun County.

PLEASE NOTE:
Rabun County does not directly provide water or sewer service to the residents of the City of Clayton.

The City of Clayton Offers Two Ways to Apply for New Utility Services:


1. Mail-In / Drop-off Application:

Download and Complete a New Service Application    Mail the completed New Utility Service Application, a check, cash, money order, or cashier's check for the applicable fees, and a photocopy of your government issued ID (example: driver's license).

Application materials should be mailed to:

Forms are also provided outside the City Hall front door for you to fill out.  Include a check, cash, money order, or cashier's check for the applicable fees, and a photocopy of your government issued ID (example: driver's license).


2. Applying in person:

Utility Billing office location: 837 Highway 76 West, Clayton, Georgia 30525.  Bring a check, cash, credit card, money order, or cashier's check for the applicable fees, and your government issued ID (example: driver's license).

Important Things to Know

  • Same day service is not available, please allow up to 2 business days for all service requests.
  • New service connections and delinquent reconnections are performed Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30 pm on the day following any new account creation/reeconnection and may take up to two (2) business days.
  • Service disconnections are performed Monday through Wednesday.
  • We do not connect or disconnect on standard holidays, weekends, or before/after normal business hours.
  • We can schedule connections and disconnections by calendar date only. Because routes observed by technicians are set based on the previous days’ orders, we cannot set hourly schedules.
  • Service connections and disconnections may be scheduled up to 7 calendar days in advance.
  • All outstanding bills, in Owner/Leaseholder/Tenants name(s), must be paid in full before a New, Reconnect, or Transfer Service order is submitted.
  • When tenants vacate a property and/or close an account, service is not automatically transferred back to property owner, management company, or apartment complex name.
  • Service connections are established by request only.
